	Oral Surgery and Healing

	The blood supply to the oral cavity is very good. This substantially aids in soft tissue healing from either injury or surgery. The classic description of healing is described in three major phases; inflammatory, proliferative, maturation or remodeling phase. When we see patients that heal poorly, we look for other medical problems such as diabetes or infection. Poor healing can result from poor tissue handling during surgery or trauma in the post operative period of healing.
