Oral masses from traumatic occlusion

Cats with oral masses in the area of the caudal mandible must be evaluated for a traumatic occlusion. When the lower molar of a cat is extracted, the operator must be able to evaluate for trauma from the opposing dental arch. The upper fourth premolar is frequently involved and can traumatize the mucosa of the mandible.

This mass was located in the area of the extracted
lower right molar. It extended to the side of the
tongue and to the lip mucosa.

The oral mass is macerated from traumatic
contact with the upper fourth premolar tooth.
