Preparing Pets for the visit

Animals that potentially will have anesthesia and surgery should be fasted with the exception of chinchillas, guinea pigs and rabbits. Please withold food at least six hours prior to the scheduled appointment. To avoid dehydration, wather should be available until the morning of the scheduled appointment. Please advise other members of your household of these resctictions to help avoid anesthesia complications.

Do not administer aspirin or other medications for two days prior to the scheduled procedure. If your pet is on insulin, please call us to determine whether the insulin dose should be reduced or eliminated.

Please exercise your pet prior to the visit to allow for normal elimination of urine and feces. It is desirable to keep them on their normal routine as well as possible the morning of the procedure.
